How to Take Care of Straight Hair

Since I straightened out my hair care, it's been growing, and the ends look great. Here's what I do for my hair:

Never wash the hair with shampoo anymore, only conditioner, such as VO5 Hydrators or Free Me Freesia, Suave Daily Clarifying conditioner, or White Rain Extra Body. If you buy these, make sure you get the exact product, as all these brands make lots of different products, some of which aren't good for much of anything. Dilute the conditioner with 1/2 as much water, to help it penetrate better. Then use it by the handful. All these brands are really cheap, so cost is not an issue. Do a scalp massage while washing, to remove any skin buildup (an issue only if you tend to get dandruff), then repeat again, to do the length once and the scalp twice in all.

Then apply a moisturizing conditioner, like Elasta QP Intense or Hollywood Beauty Carrot Cholesterol. This would be a conditioner without any silicones (ingredients ending in -cone, read the ingredients list). Finally, finish off with some Pantene Pro-V, and comb out while I'm rinsing.

Some people complain of damaging buildup from the silicones in Pantene Pro-V. To prevent this, start your wash by wetting your hair with a mix of 1/2 cup vinegar in warm water at least once a week. Never had any buildup problem.

Squeeze out your hair, then put it up in a towel. Take it down, comb again, then put it in a dry towel one more time. By the time, take it down, it's more damp than wet. Now put 2 drops of jojoba on your fingertips, and work this into the ends, and also the section on the back of your neck that breaks off short. This seems to prevent that "dry ends" feeling, and makes the hair even sleeker.

Sometimes also add a couple of drops of jojoba or coconut oil the next day after wash, but if your are wearing your hair up, usually forget to do it until it's too late.

How to Style Curly Hair

Over 60 percent of all women have curly or wavy hair. More and more of these 60 percent are starting to wear their hair curly. Six years ago, straight hair may have been in, but today the natural look is in and that means wearing your hair as is, especially if it's curly. If you have curly hair and want to style it curly after having worn it straight for years, you might be at a loss as to how you should style it. Good news, if you hated spending hours on your hair straightening it every morning, you are in for a treat if you are going to start wearing it curly. It takes only a few minutes to style curly hair.

Before wearing your hair curly, there are two important things you must know. First, curly hair is often inconsistent and may not always behave. One day you might have perfect curls and then you may never be able to copy that look again. Luckily, you can make it look great even if it doesn't, always look the same. Second, curly hair needs moisture. Always avoid things that will dry out your hair such as bleach, hair dryers, and straightening and curling irons, and moisturize as much as possible. Use a moisturizing daily conditioner and use a deep conditioner every week. If the extra moisture makes your hair oily, concentrate the extra moisture away from your scalp where the oil is produced and closer to the older, dryer ends.

In order to begin styling your hair, first wash and condition it, and then leave it soaking wet to prepare for the product. Next, in your hand, squeeze about a dime size amount for short hair or a quarter size amount or more for long hair, of leave-in conditioner. Next, squeeze in an equal amount of curling gel. You can add in a pump or two of defrizzing serum if you'd like. Mix it together well and rub it between your hands. Rake the mixture evenly throughout your soaking wet hair and scrunch your hair up towards your head to help it curl.

You can add the products to your hair with your head upside down for more volume. Let your hair air dry or use a diffuser for a few minutes on a low cool setting to help it along. Once it is dry, scrunch your hair a bit if it's crunchy, and then enjoy your perfect curls.

No Weight Conditioner - Light Weight Hair Conditioners For Volume, Body and Fullness

If you are looking for a light weight conditioner to add body, control and volume to your hairstyle, trying a "no weight" conditioner may just be what the doctor (or your stylist) ordered!

No weight conditioners are formulated and designed to condition your hair without weighing it down. Many hair conditioners that are coupled with a shampoo often defeat the purpose of body and volume by coating the follicle shaft and stripping the hair of its ability to maintain curl or style. While many conditioners provide adequate protection and help restore health to damaged hair, product residue and active ingredients flatten-out the moisture and life provided by shampooing.

If you have thin, fine or fly-away hair, then volume and control are probably at the top of your list of things you want from conditioning. Using a no weight conditioner will add smoothness, reduce breaking and split ends, and will provide conditioning that protects and rebuilds protein bonds without losing that hard-fought design.

Most light weight conditioners use botanical active ingredients. Panthenol, Emu Oil, Burdock and rice or wheat proteins are the most common ingredients. They are very effective at smoothing the follicle shaft and help strengthen cellular structure leaving little residue or deposits. Panthenol and Emu Oil, in particular have become popular ingredients in hair products for their ability to be absorbed into the scalp and cuticle allowing natural replenishment of moisture and protective oils.

Other active ingredients such as Zinc PCA, Fenugreek and Ivy help stimulate growth and give hair a thicker, plumper appearance - facilitating thickness and increased control for hair that needs additional help for fullness. Fenugreek and Ivy both are used to help stimulate scalp circulation improving nutrition and scalp and hair health. Zinc helps regulate hair oils (sebum) from the sebaceous glands that can lock-on the shaft and make hair limp and hard to manage.

A light weight or no-weight conditioner may just what your hair needs if you have trouble maintaining body and fullness with your regular shampoo. Botanical ingredients allow protection, repair, and shiny, silkiness without heavy residue or build-up that can weigh your hair down. It may be just what the stylist ordered!

Shop HealthyHairPlus for a no weight conditioner that can add shine and body without weighing down your hair.

HealthyHairPlus carries a complete line of shampoos, conditioners and styling aids for beautiful, healthy hair.

Sedu Hairstyling Tips

The sedu hair straightener craze erupted in 2006. This hairstyle craze reintroduced sleek and sexy hairstyles that could be modified to fit any hair type. If you are interested in creating your own sedu hair style then you will want to follow the sedu hair style tips listed below.

The first thing that you will need to do to create a superior sedu hair style is to use the right equipment. Sedu offers one of the best ceramic hair straighteners on the market today. It utilizes a ceramic and tourmaline plate system that allows the plates to slide easily over your hair without grabbing, snagging or damaging the strands. The sedu hair straightener also is superior to other ceramic hair straighteners because it creates 6 times the number of negative ions and it also is designed to infuse your hair strands with moisture and shine. If you have had bad luck with flat irons and ceramic straighteners in the past you will be pleasantly surprised by the results generated by the sedu hair straightener.

In addition to using the sedu hair straightener sedu beauty tips also recommend that you use the right hair care products in conjunction with your hair straightener. One of the most important hair care products that you should use when creating a sedu hair style is conditioner. Make sure that you use a high quality condition when you wash your hair, and also use a leave in conditioner when you plan on creating a sedu hair style. This will help to protect your hair from styling damage, and it will also help your sedu hair straightener create a sleek and shiny hair style.

Sedu hair styles are great for just about any occasion. However, they are especially popular for proms and special occasions. To select the best sedu prom hair styles for you, you will need to first consider the shape of your face. For example round faces and heart shaped faces need to look for sedu hair styles that add height to the crown of their head. After you have determined what shape your face is you next step is to find a hair style that is both flattering to your face shape and that will also fit your style preference. Some of the sedu hair styles that you can select from include: natural sedu hair style, chic sedu hair style, formal sedu hair style and vintage hair style.

Shea Butter For Healthy Hair

Healthy hair is something that we all want, and that's why the sales of products that are supposed to give people healthy hair are so huge. However, most of the time those products are simply not what they're cracked up to be. There are many things we can do to prevent hair damage, and to treat damaged hair. Here are some great tips and ideas you can use for healthy hair.

Hair Cuts:

It's important to keep your hair trimmed. You don't have to get a lot of length cut off to maintain healthy hair. An half an is fine, and should remove all split ends from your hair. Experts suggest getting your hair cut about every 6 to 8 weeks in order to maintain healthy hair. Getting rid of the split ends before they weaken the hair and cause breakages will prevent problems.

Shampoo:

It is not necessary to shampoo your hair every day. In fact, it can be damaging. When you shampoo your hair every day, you strip your hair of natural oils. This can cause your hair to become brittle and dry. Instead, only wash your hair every other day. Another tip is to make sure you're not using deep cleansing shampoo regularly. There really is no need to use this every time you wash your hair. Deep cleansing shampoos are for removing build up and can leave your hair dried out and frizzled if you use it regularly. If you are concerned with build up, use a deep cleansing shampoo every couple of weeks.

Conditioner:

It's a pretty good idea to use conditioner every time you shampoo your hair. This can help hydrate your hair, and is also good for tangles. Leave in conditioner is fine as long as it doesn't weigh the hair down and make it appear oily. Don't forget that you shouldn't brush your hair when it's wet, as it stretches easily and can break. Instead, wait until the hair dries to gently comb it out.

Heat:

If at all possible, avoid using heat on your hair. Things like your blow dryer, straightener, and curling iron can cause massive damage to your hair. If you can achieve your favorite style by allowing your hair to air dry, it's a good idea to do so. If you are not able to do that, and you want to continue using your heated hair items, use a deep conditioning product at least every week. This will help combat the damage done to your hair, and keep it healthy and beautiful.

Shea Butter:

Shea Butter is amazing for the hair. With it's hydrating and healing properties, Shea Butter can be used as a deep conditioner. Just rub a generous amount of the Shea Butter between your hands to melt it and apply it to the hair. Make sure to pay close attention to the ends of hair, which is more likely to have damage than the roots. After you have covered all of your hair with the Shea Butter, place a shower cap on your head and allow the Shea Butter to work it's magic for about a half hour or so. Then you can use a gentle shampoo.

Another tip is to use Shea Butter to tame flyaways. Just use a dime sized amount, rub your hands together, and smooth your hair down with it. This will help keep your style the way you want it without annoying frizz.

Beautiful hair can be achieved by everyone, if we all take care of our hair properly.

How To Maintain Your Mane

There is nothing like a messy, mangy mane to ruin your put together image, so it’s important that you spend time taming your tresses. Mane maintenance doesn’t have to be difficult, just follow these simple tips and tricks to get a gorgeous head of hair.

Determine your hair type

In order to pick the right products to keep your hair in tip- top shape, you need to figure out your hair’s needs. Oily, dry, and normal hair, all need different products so keep this in mind when you shop.

Oily: Look for shampoos that clean thoroughly but are still gentle; ingredients like peppermint and sage are good choices. A clear shampoo will have much more degreasing power than a thick, creamy one, and volumizing formulas will help lift limp, fine hair at the roots. Try using light conditioners that won’t weigh down your hair and use on the ends only.

Dry: Dry hair needs gentle care, so look for shampoos that are thick and moisturizing. Conditioning is crucial, so get a formula that is specially made for dry hair. Tip: after shampooing, work conditioner through the hair concentrating on the ends and leave on in the shower while you soap up. This will allow the conditioning benefits to soften your hair, leaving it silky soft.

Color treated: Colored hair needs special attention, so look for formulas that are designed for colored hair – these will help your color last longer and won’t dry out your locks.

Moisture, moisture, moisture

Regardless of hair type your hair still needs moisture to remain healthy and soft. Once a week indulge in a deep conditioning treatment; slather it on and wrap hair in a fluffy towel. The heat created will help the conditioner penetrate your hair. If your hair is fine or oily, try conditioning your hair before you shampoo to avoid product overload. Look for products that contain humectants; these are ingredients that attract moisture.

Protein Boost

Protein is crucial for maintaining your hair’s strength, so look for products that contain amino acids. A few times a week, try swapping out your regular shampoo and conditioner for one with protein - this will improve your hair’s elasticity and help prevent breakage.

Keep Color Vibrant

The main concern with color treated hair is loss of color and vibrancy. A good regime of gentle shampoos and moisturizing conditioners will help hair remain bright. Invest in a shampoo that deposits color pigments; use this to boost your color a few times a week.

De-gunk

Product build up can make your color dull, weigh down your strands, and leave your hair looking lackluster. Deep cleaning shampoos will help remove all the excess and leave your hair squeaky clean. Use one at least once a month.
