Keeping Your Home Smelling Spring Fresh

When I was growing up in the 60's my mom had always believed in home made concoctions for everything from cleaning cabinets to bathrooms to home made hair conditioners, and facial toners.

Lemon was a big one in my home. My mom would stock up on lemons which were used on cleaning as well as cooking.

The most memorable was her fresh smelling lemon spray which was used every year for her spring cleaning. April was the cleaning month. She would spray it on base boards, mattress box springs, closets, shelving, out door furniture and every nook and cranny. Our home smelled like fresh lemons.

When we had guests the night before she go through the house quickly and spray everything. She would keep a small spay bottle in our rooms and ask us to spray our rooms each week. Not only did it clean, it was a great freshner, everything smelled so clean and fresh. I was always taught to clean up during cooking. Mom's home made lemons cleaner was great for cleaning around the oven when food was present.
It's better to spray lemon on chicken than bleach.

I have passed on this fabulous receipe to you all. I hope you find this receipe helpful in helping your decision in finding a air freshner.

Find a pretty spray bottle. You can purchase one at your local department store. Fill the bottle half way with distilled water. Add 3 to 4 drops of lemon oil which can be purchased at a candle shop, or bath shop. Add one whole lemon to this ingredient. Low and behold you have yourself the best smelling air freshner/cleaner for cleaning kitchen cabinets to cleaning bathrooms!

Happy Cleaning!

Your Kitchen is Your Spa Supplier

Have you ever walked into a high-end department store where “spa” items are sold and walked away because of the high price?

How many times have you seen an item you wanted, but when you tried to read the list of ingredients, which seemed to be in Latin/Greek, which you couldn’t even pronounce, you put it back?

Granted, the packaging, containers and brand name were great. And, maybe you were drawn to this item because of the excellent marketing and the appeal of “If you want to be beautiful, thin, have the perfect home, perfect husband, children, family, etc, you have to have this product” advertising.

How many times have we purchased a “must have” product just to have it sit on a shelf for a couple of years before we threw it out in the trash?

Today, all of the major companies are into the “Natural” products. Recently, while Christmas shopping, I went into a mall where the first thing I saw was a wagon that had “Natural Products”.

When I read the ingredients, the first thing I noticed was Mineral Oil. Great product, but it is not natural. Mineral Oil is made from petrochemicals during the refining of oil and gasoline products.

Yet, how many times have we used this same product on ourselves or for our children, especially our babies? I’m not saying it doesn’t work, but if you say your products are made using natural ingredients, why would you have a products made from petrochemicals?

What would you do if I were to tell you that you could have many of the same type of items by making them yourself, at home, without all the petrochemicals, which many commercial products contains.

Did you know that the shelves in your grocery store, health food store and your own kitchen contain many products that will help you and your family? · Arthritis Rubs · Facial masks · Facial moisturizers · Hair conditioners · Hair colorants · Bath & Body products · Cold remedies · Teas · And more

Go on line, there are a lot of places where you can find simple recipes to make simple products. Your local library and/or bookstore are other great place to find ideas.

Did you know that: · Honey is a great facial mask, tightens the pores as well as moisturizes. · Honey is an excellent product to use on a cut or wound will not only act as an a bandage but also as an antibody. Honey was a staple of the ancient Egyptian doctors. · Olive oil is an excellent product for both your skin (if you have dry skin) and your hair, giving it body and shine. · Used tea bags will help relieve eye puffiness. Preparation H is another good product to get rid of puffiness under the eyes.

More ideas:: · Did you know that if you added capsicum (hot pepper) to olive oil, let them sit for a couple of days to blend, you have one of the best topical ointments for arthritis? · A cup of peppermint tea is one of the best remedies for stomachaches and cramps. Used tea bags will help relieve eye puffiness · Out of deodorant or toothpaste, try baking soda. · Vinegar is no only an excellent product to clean windows but can also be used as a fabric softener. · Got a cold? It’s going to be with you for at least 7 to 10 days. Yes, you will feel miserable during that time, but your body is building immunities and with rest and plenty of fluids you will get over it. With the proper rest, diet and vitamins, your next one will not be as severe, that is, if you get a next one.

At one time in our history, we relied entirely on plant and natural items to restore and heal us. Mineral oil and petroleum jelly were not a part of our facial/body care.

These particular products were the ‘left over” from the manufacturing of oil and gasoline. Not natural, but good advertising has made us believe that it is the best products on planet earth..

Today, we have become accustomed to the “quick fix,” we want instant results. Don’t like the way you look, go get plastic surgery, injections or liposuction.

Sometimes all we need is a helping hand, not a make over. Go to any drug or grocery store and you will find aisles of self-medication over the counter (OTC) products. But are they what we really need. Do we really need to run to the dermatologist every time we see (or think we see) a new wrinkle?

The best defense is offense. Read up, learn and see what you can do for you, yourself. Sometimes, the what we need is right under our noses, we just have to look and recognize it..

You know your skin better than the major companies. What is good for everyone may just be good advertising trying to get you to believe that one size fits everyone.

While in reality, one size fits no one!

Giving Your Hair The Best Conditioning

Conditioners helps you manage things well, especially your hair.

Conditioner is a substance that makes things easily manageable. Bread dough's for example, conditioners make it easy to manage bread dough, which is otherwise hard without it.

The best use for conditioners, on the other hand, is for the hair. Hair conditioners are heaven sent for people with frizzy and dry hair. It helps make hair easily manageable and easy to style. It also lessens the pain of detangling the dry hair when frizzyness attacks.

Conditioning the hair also eliminates the problem when it becomes nest-like after shampoo.

Here are a few tips on how to use hair conditioners to the fullest.

First, is clean your hair with shampoo. In shampooing, avoid bring up your hair and rubbing it with the shampoo. It will tangle all the ends and it will be hard to fix it after washing.

Shampoo needs to clean your scalp where dirt may build up that may cause dandruff.

Use your fingertips to clean your scalp with shampoo working the lather down to the tips from the roots. Do not rub the hair strands together to avoid damaging your hair.

Rinse well to wash the shampoo completely.

Secondly, apply a rich, moisturizing conditioner to the hair with more concentration on the tips.

Please note that when you shampoo, you concentrate on your scalp, but when you condition your hair, you concentrate on the tips.

Comb your hair with the conditioner still on it, and use a wide-toothed comb.

Remember, shampooing is to clean the scalp, conditioning is to treat your hair with protective shield to keep it moist and protected from dryness that harms the hair.

Rinse well after about a minute. If your hair is extremely dry, you may

How to Choose Hair Conditioner

The phrase hair conditioner seems a bit broad. The main objective of people who prefer to use hair conditioners is for them to make their hair more vibrant and full of life. Maybe one's hair is thinning, too frizzy, too dry, or has been damaged. Regardless of the situation, hair conditioners should help to deal with it. Below, you can find a list of basic solutions assembled to deal with certain hair concerns.

Unlike shampoo that should be chosen depending on the scalp type, conditioners should be chosen depending on the hair type. This helps avoid greasiness, frizz or limp locks. Eventually, hair can become immune to a conditioning formulas effects, and that will actually cause build up, so no matter what conditioner you end up choosing, change the brand of conditioner you use every month.

How to choose the right conditioner:

1. Look for rich, moisturizing conditioner if hair tends to get extra dry or frizzy.

2. If the hair is limp or fine, use a volumizing conditioner.

3. Healthy and shiny hair needs only a conditioner made for normal hair.

4. Use leave-on conditioners at least once a week. Use it in the shower and rinse immediately if the hair is fine but for drier hair, leave it longer.

5. If there are no conditioners available anymore, or just to avoid chemicals for a change, natural conditioners like mayonnaise or olive oil can be used as a substitute.

If a person has baby-fine hair then too much conditioner will weigh it down. Test the hair at night to see what amount of conditioner works best. Fine hair can be nice and shiny, but too much conditioner makes it look oily, damp or weighted down. The amount of conditioner being used to baby fine hair also matters. Be sure to rinse the hair well. It seems that cooler rinse water works better as it does not leave the scalp feeling heavy or irritated and this has been proven from a lot of hair experts too. Baby shampoo works great to give fine hair extra shine due to its mild content. Flip the hair over while wet and barely blow-dry hair underneath. This will give hair extra bounce.

For people that are trying to have that fuller hair appearance, here are some great tips. The Cholesterol products that come in jars are all great sources to use for fuller hair, one such product is Le Kair. People that are searching for ways to fuller hair should look for products that read volume and fullness.

Nowadays, both women and men have processed hair. Adding moisture is key to finding the right conditioner for color treated, permed, & relaxed hair. Sadly, treated hair usually suffers from oily roots to dry scalp and shaft, and sometimes split ends. So washing processed hair can be a demanding business. The trick is to cleanse the roots while moisturizing the ends.

Here are shampoo tips for the following processed hair types:

- For color treated hair try to look for a rich and thick conditioner

- Many people apply conditioner to their scalp like shampoo. Don't forget the ends of your hair, where conditioner is needed most!

- Make sure to get away from conditioners that contain silicone, because this tends to strip color.

- For curly hair, use deep conditioners.

Select products that contain cetyl or stearyl alcohol, panthenol & methicones, silicone or dimethicone, or essential oils & botanicals such as avocado or jojoba oil. This will help in taming the hair and keep it looking gorgeous for a whole day.

Putting conditioner on thinning hair will not be enough to stop a hair loss problem, but this will make hair appear as though it's thicker and fuller. One way to help replenish the hair's natural protein and mineral balance is by using the Tricomin restructuring conditioner. This in turn can build the shine, luster, and even bring back the body of thin hair. A leave-in conditioner can also help smooth and straighten hair.

Hair Styles for Black People

Some of the most attractive people are black models and athletes. Consider just a few of them out there. Tyra Banks, Beyonce, Dwayne Wade and the list can go on and on. Something though can definitely be said about these people and their exotic look. Hair styles have definitely contributed to their attractiveness.

Take for instance Beyonce. She is one of the best looking entertainers out there. What she has done is paid attention to her hair. It contributes to her beauty. She has put extra effort into a hair style that contributes to her look and that compliments her. Instead of just going with a standard hair style that you would see on an African American she did what looks best on her. She went with the hair style that looks good on her head. She did not go with the frizzy hair style that you see on so many black people. Instead she has straight gorgeous hair. Hair coloring lightens her hair color. She's a knock out for it. The same can be said for Tyra Banks.

Are you tempted to go with the hair style that everyone of your ethnicity is wearing? Don't do that. Instead take a look at yourself in the mirror. What does your hair want to do? What about your body shape? If you are a bigger person you may benefit from a shorter hair style. If you are slimmer a longer volumized hair style will probably work better for you.

Also pay attention to the hair product you are using. Put nutrients in your hair that are going to make it healthy. Alcohol free hair products are best. Alcohol dries out the hair. You want instead a good moisturizer conditioner and shampoo.

Put these styling suggestions together and make yourself into the beautiful person that you are.

Hair products can be expensive - especially the hair products that your hair needs. Here is a web site that will supply you with Free Samples Of Hair Products:
