Hair Styles for Black People

Some of the most attractive people are black models and athletes. Consider just a few of them out there. Tyra Banks, Beyonce, Dwayne Wade and the list can go on and on. Something though can definitely be said about these people and their exotic look. Hair styles have definitely contributed to their attractiveness.

Take for instance Beyonce. She is one of the best looking entertainers out there. What she has done is paid attention to her hair. It contributes to her beauty. She has put extra effort into a hair style that contributes to her look and that compliments her. Instead of just going with a standard hair style that you would see on an African American she did what looks best on her. She went with the hair style that looks good on her head. She did not go with the frizzy hair style that you see on so many black people. Instead she has straight gorgeous hair. Hair coloring lightens her hair color. She's a knock out for it. The same can be said for Tyra Banks.

Are you tempted to go with the hair style that everyone of your ethnicity is wearing? Don't do that. Instead take a look at yourself in the mirror. What does your hair want to do? What about your body shape? If you are a bigger person you may benefit from a shorter hair style. If you are slimmer a longer volumized hair style will probably work better for you.

Also pay attention to the hair product you are using. Put nutrients in your hair that are going to make it healthy. Alcohol free hair products are best. Alcohol dries out the hair. You want instead a good moisturizer conditioner and shampoo.

Put these styling suggestions together and make yourself into the beautiful person that you are.

Hair products can be expensive - especially the hair products that your hair needs. Here is a web site that will supply you with Free Samples Of Hair Products:

The 30-Day Ponytail Challenge

I caught myself putting my hair up in a ponytail for the fifth time last week, and I realized that something's got to change. Why is it that moms seem to relegate themselves to that old standby ponytail every single day? And if it's not the ponytail, then it's the big, fat hair clip. I am sending out a personal challenge to say "NO!" to the ponytail/hair clip do for 30 days. Can you do it? I bet you can!! If you are blessed enough to have a head of hair, then take care of it and show it off!

Shine It-If your hair is suffering form the dried-out doldrums, then try some natural conditioners. A can of beer poured through your hair is a perfect way to bring out the shine. Vinegar also works very well to make your hair practically glisten. And as long as you seal the hair cuticle with a blast of cold water, you don't have to worry about going around smelling like a brewery or an Easter egg.

Condition It-I read once that mayonnaise works fabulously as a natural hair conditioner. I tried it and nearly gagged (gross!). If you are looking for something to work as a great natural hair conditionar, try egg yolk and olive oil. The protein penetrates the hair shaft and the oil seals it in a layer of softness. However, keep in mind that most people who need conditioner only need it on the lower portion of the hair and not the crown. If you put too much conditioner on the crown of your head, it can make your whole head look oily.

Detanble It-I paid a hefty price tag for those fancy detangling hair sprays until I realized that I could make it myself for a tiny fraction of the cost. Buy a bottle of volumizing conditioner. It's important to get volumizing so that it doesn't make your hair lie flat. In a spray bottle, put a squirt of the conditioner and fill the rest up with water (the ratio will vary depending on how tangled your hair usually gets).

Style It-This is the kicker for most busy moms. We barely have time to blow dry our hair, much less style it. However, there are always a few minutes here and there. Hot rollers are making a come back and they are so easy. Just spend a few minutes rolling it and go on with your household duties. When you're finished, take out the rollers, fluff out your hair, and you're done. For quick fixes, headbands are awesome and there are so many cool ones out now. Styling is really not that difficult and it makes such a huge difference. So, go ahead and take my 30-Day Ponytail Challenge. You'll be glad you did!

Split Ends Treatment Remedy

Split ends occur when the hair strand "fractures" on the end. Split ends in the hair are the most common hair problem that every woman faces. Split ends occur when your hair's cuticle wears down. Trichoptlosis or split ends occur when the protective cuticle is stripped away from the ends of the hair. Split ends are more common when the hair is dry or brittle. Hair is more delicate and vulnerable to splitting when it's wet, so never brush wet hair. Gently comb it with a wide-tooth comb. Don't brush too vigorously, as tension caused by brushing promotes splitting. Instead, brush gently from crown to ends using a soft-bristled brush.

Wait at least two weeks between chemical treatments such as perming and coloring, which, when used one after the other, can be extremely damaging to hair. Over heating hair can cause split ends. Always use a heat protection spray before using a hair dryer or straighteners. Protect your hair by using a shampoo made for split ends, and use an anti-breakage conditioner. However, realize that many shampoos only cover up the problem, not cure it. Apply a leave-in conditioner or pomade to the ends of your hair daily to keep them strong.

Split ends should not be left unattended. Some splits can split right up the entire hair shaft or else the split ends themselves will actually split, leaving you with split split ends. Use a clarifying shampoo about once a month...silicone builds up, which you want, because keeps the split ends "bonded" to hair so they can not be seen. Avoid vent brushes with plastic bristles. These can cause further damage by ripping through the hair. On dry hair, use a wide brush with a foam pad that allows more give.

Try not to shampoo every day if you have dry hair. Protect hair when heat-styling. Apply a leave-in conditioner. Carefully remove the split ends; this will give your hair a natural layered effect. Try to cut about the same amount of hair. Cutting your hair is the best way of getting rid of split ends. It is the simplest and least expensive method to remove split ends. Hair dryers, curling irons, perms and hair colors all damage hair. If you must blow-dry, use a cool setting and keep the dryer 6 inches (15 cm) from your hair.

Split Ends Treatment Tips

1. Protect your hair by using a shampoo made for split ends, and use an anti-breakage conditioner.

2. Shampoo hair and use a moisturizing formula like Phytojoba or similar.

3. Use a good rinse out conditioner making sure to slather the ends where the splits exist.

4. Detangle your strands with a wide tooth comb.

5. Use a large paddle or round brush and a blow dryer and blow your hair completely dry.

6. In winter, biting winds can cause split ends. Invest in a cool hat to wrap up your hair.

7. Don't vigorously brush hair when it is wet. Hair will snap and break, causing split ends.

8. Don't tie your hair back with an elastic band. Always use a soft covered scrunchie or band.

9. Get hair trimmed regularly to get rid of any split ends.

10. Always use coated or covered rubber bands.

Chemical Hair Straighteners - What You Need To Know

Many people turn to chemical hair straightening and other hair straightening means to straighten hair for a long period of time. With hair straightening, curly hair gets rearranged to straight hair. The chemicals used for hair straightening are usually guanidine hydroxide, sodium hydroxide and ammonium thioglycolate. However with this, there may be damage to your hair as the chemicals used here strip the bonds that are responsible for curly hair. Instead of permanent hair straighteners, you can turn to temporary hair straighteners for straightening very curly hair.

There are many professional flat irons available today like the Sedu flat iron for you to use to pin straight your hair a day at a time. In addition to this, there are many products available today like oils, hair straightener solutions, serums and creams that can be used for hair straightening. It is always better to go through reviews before choosing the product that you like as some products don't hold as long as other products.

When choosing your hair straightening products, you have to take your hair type into consideration. This is because fine hair tends to straighten easily as the product gets soaked faster in this hair. You will need more of the product when straightening coarse and thick hair. In addition to using these products on your hair, you will have to blow dry your hair using these products and coax it with the help of a hair straightening brush.

Chemical hair straightening is done following four steps with the strand test first done to find the strength, texture and elasticity of the hair. This determines the chemicals that can be tolerated by your hair. The next step involves using a protective cream on the scalp to shield damaged hair. Then chemicals are rinsed over the hair using hot water and last, the scalp is relaxed using a special conditioner.

Deep Penetrating Hair Conditioner

Dry hair can be frustrating and challenging. Dry hair can result from a variety of factors, but having to deal with fly-away, frizz, damage and static electricity can make you want to, well, pull your hair out. Using a deep penetrating hair conditioner can have you on the road towards body, volume and control.

Dryness can be the result of many things beyond our control and some we can manage. Cold air, low humidity, excessive styling or the use of inexpensive hair products strip away moisture and hydration and leave hair void of body and fullness. Wind, flat irons and blow dryers all work against our scalp and can dry hair leading to lack of manageability and "flat hair" - the dreaded, unintentional style where your well-maintained hair style lays flat on your head.

Deep penetrating hair conditioners have been formulated and researched to topically infuse moisture into the follicle shaft increasing nutrients while adding "plumpness" and body. The follicle sheath and cells require moisture to "behave". Penetrating the shaft (and scalp) revive and restore lost moisture and reduce frizziness and help reduce and protect from damage.

There are several products and ingredients available we have found to be the most effective at penetrating and healing or moisturizing.

In the past few years there have been several ingredients used in conditioners proven effective at deep penetration - Emu Oil, Jojoba Oil and Panthenol. All have found there way into hair products and conditioners, in particular. Emu Oil is probably the most widely for a number of its properties.

Emu Oil has been used for thousands of years by the Australians - similar to Argan Oil in Morocco. Emu Oil is transdermal, meaning is penetrates deep into the scalp and hair. It is a natural moisturizer and is known to help heal scalp conditions and is an anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory. A popular ingredient in skin care to treat burns and help heal scars, it is used extensively both in shampoos and deep penetrating conditioners. Effective for repairing damaged hair, it works well to control frizz, split-ends and infuses rich moisture for body and control.

As an alternative, Argan Oil, known by name brands such as Moroccan Oil or Moroccan Miracle Oil hair treatment, has been growing in popularity for its ability to penetrate deep. A topical, leave-in conditioner, it adds moisture and protects against sun and heat damage. It is rich in Vitamin E and works well to restore hydration while protecting.

A deep penetrating conditioner can help repair damage and increase volume and fullness to dry, fly-away hair. If you are battling static electricity, lack of body or unmanageable locks, give a hair conditioner formulated to penetrate deep and moisturize a try, your hair (and stylist) will be glad you did!

Shop HealthyHairPlus for deep penetrating conditioners and leave-in hair conditioners. HealthyHairPlus carries complete line of top shampoos, hair vitamins and styling aids for healthier, faster growing hair.

Choose Professional Haircare Products For Beautiful Hair Every Day

With so many new hairstyles today, women and men alike need professional haircare products that will keep their hair looking beautiful all day every day. There are so many products on the market such as shampoos, conditioners, gels, hairsprays, hair waxes, anti-frizz treatments, perms, and more. So, how do you choose which is right for your hair? Here are some tips to get you started.

Shampoo and Conditioner

Some well-known brand name manufacturers that carry professional haircare products include ABBA, L'oreal, BioSilk, AVEDA, ARTec, Murad, Nioxin, Pureology, American Crew, and Alterna. A variety of shampoos and conditioners are available to help dry hair, thin hair, colored hair, permed hair, African-American hair - you name it! Some of the categories you might find include volumizing, refining, moisturizing, reconstructing, and purifying.

There are also products meant to repair damaged hair. For example, two L'oreal professional hair care products are called "Absolut Repair Shampoo" and "Absolut Repair Conditioner." These can be enhanced with L’oreal’s “Active Crème” and “Repair Masque.”

The important thing is to find the right combination of shampoo and conditioner. Your hair texture might not require conditioner at all. Or, you might require only a very small amount. If you have hair that tends to tangle easily, you might require more conditioner than usual.

Time to Shampoo!

Determine what type of hair you have - dry, thick, thin, fine, silky, or natural curls. Choose shampoo that's designed to enhance your type of hair. Once you've used a certain type of shampoo for a while, your hair may seem drab again. If so, try changing to a different brand for a while. Some people even change brands every time they reach the bottom of a shampoo bottle!

Other Professional Haircare Products

Using shampoo and conditioner is just the beginning! There are also many other products to meet your hair needs such as hairsprays, gel and mousse, anti-frizz solutions, etc. Some key words to look for when choosing these products include defining creme gel, finish spray, forming polish, straightening balm, strong hold hairspray, root lift, relaxing serum, and styling lotion.

Natural Haircare Products

There are also natural haircare products that do not contain harmful chemicals. These will naturally add much-needed vitamins to your hair and skin. They can be very effective in reducing hair loss as well as enhancing your hair's natural beauty.

Beware, however, of salon hair care products that are labeled "natural." These might be partially natural, but not 100 percent natural. They often contain synthetic ingredients for preservation purposes. Also, organic does not necessarily mean natural. Read labels! Natural haircare products are available for all types of hair, from blonde to brunette. There are also natural black hair care products.

Here are just a few natural hair care products: Aloe Vera, Rosemary and Sage, Psyllium husk, Saw Palmetto Extract, Henna, and Nettle Root Extract.

Shopping for hair products is easier than ever with the Internet. You can use online resources to find professional haircare products at affordable prices and have them shipped to your doorstep. Your hair can look gorgeous every day of the week!

How to Take Care of Straight Hair

Since I straightened out my hair care, it's been growing, and the ends look great. Here's what I do for my hair:

Never wash the hair with shampoo anymore, only conditioner, such as VO5 Hydrators or Free Me Freesia, Suave Daily Clarifying conditioner, or White Rain Extra Body. If you buy these, make sure you get the exact product, as all these brands make lots of different products, some of which aren't good for much of anything. Dilute the conditioner with 1/2 as much water, to help it penetrate better. Then use it by the handful. All these brands are really cheap, so cost is not an issue. Do a scalp massage while washing, to remove any skin buildup (an issue only if you tend to get dandruff), then repeat again, to do the length once and the scalp twice in all.

Then apply a moisturizing conditioner, like Elasta QP Intense or Hollywood Beauty Carrot Cholesterol. This would be a conditioner without any silicones (ingredients ending in -cone, read the ingredients list). Finally, finish off with some Pantene Pro-V, and comb out while I'm rinsing.

Some people complain of damaging buildup from the silicones in Pantene Pro-V. To prevent this, start your wash by wetting your hair with a mix of 1/2 cup vinegar in warm water at least once a week. Never had any buildup problem.

Squeeze out your hair, then put it up in a towel. Take it down, comb again, then put it in a dry towel one more time. By the time, take it down, it's more damp than wet. Now put 2 drops of jojoba on your fingertips, and work this into the ends, and also the section on the back of your neck that breaks off short. This seems to prevent that "dry ends" feeling, and makes the hair even sleeker.

Sometimes also add a couple of drops of jojoba or coconut oil the next day after wash, but if your are wearing your hair up, usually forget to do it until it's too late.
