Get Soft and Silky Hair Naturally

Polynesian women are famed for their beautiful, soft and silky hair. Their hair is always in good condition despite the hot blistering sun of the tropics. The blowing of the ocean breeze every day does nothing to ruin or damage their hair. What is their secret? The secret is that they use coconut oil as a hair conditioner.

Coconut oil does a lot for hair. It makes hair soft and silky, easy to brush through and brings its condition back to touchable. It even smells nice and is great for a pampering session before a good night out. The small molecular structure of coconut oil allows for easy absorption, giving hair a smooth and soft texture.

Coconut oil is easy to use on hair. Put it on the hair, rub it in, relax for a minute or two, and wash out. The procedure is as simple as that. With perfect results you can feel the effect even before the hair dries.

To get better results, some people apply a couple of teaspoons of warm coconut oil at night and wash out the oil in the morning. To warm the oil, you can place the bottle in warm water. If you find that too troublesome, put the oil on and cover your head with a shower cap for about an hour. You can take a long relaxing bath in the meantime. Wash out the oil from your hair after that. Repeat this procedure every few days for luxurious hair.

Beauticians who are familiar with coconut oil swear by it. They claim that using coconut oil as a hair conditioner can be just as effective as an expensive hair salon treatment. It is much cheaper too and can be applied by yourself. Coconut oil softens the hair and conditions the scalp.

Another benefit of using coconut oil as a pre-wash conditioner is that it can rid a person of dandruff better than a medicated shampoo. In some cases, a single application of coconut oil on hair eliminates all dandruff problems. Coconut oil also does not have the harsh chemicals used in many medicated shampoos.

The market is overflowing with various conditioners for hair loss and most of them are spurious or are meant for a particular type of hair or scalp. You have to be wary of such products. Homemade Hair Conditioner Recipes - Moisturize, Soften and Restore Your Hair

A hair conditioner is a term that means more than one thing.

The first and foremost purpose of it is to moisturize the hair and the scalp. Due to external influences and also internal body reactions (hormones, stress...), the skin on our head reacts differently. The most common reaction is dryness.

In homemade hair conditioners, ingredients like avocado and olive oil act as humectants. They trap in the moisture and keep it locked so that the hair shaft can receive the moisture it needs.

Combining them with natural hair care products also is a great way to help and restore damaged hair. It coats the shaft and protects it, infusing it with nourishing elements that help its resilience and shine.

Nourishing hair conditioner is specifically used for dry hair and dry scalp. It has oils that don't leave a greasy residue, but still provide enough moisture for hair to shine and look healthy.

You could always choose to buy a shampoo, but there are homemade recipes that are cheaper to make and all natural. Oily hair shampoo and conditioner target the excess oil that causes the hair to become oily. On the other side, there are dry hair shampoo recipes which restore the moisture and prevent dry, flaky skin of the scalp.

They are often used as detanglers, coating the hair shaft with polymers that prevent it from sticking together and tangling up.

The best conditioner is the one that give the best results when used on your hair. There is no way to tell the specific hair conditioner will be "the one". You need to try them and see which one fits you best.

To finish off, use a hair rinse which will boost up the natural shine and volume.

The first recipe helps moisturize the hair. The avocado is a moisturizing element and together with mayonnaise added it is perfect for dry, brittle hair.

Avocado hair moisturizer

Ingredients

* 1/4 avocado, peeled and mashed

* 1/4 mayonnaise

* blender or food processor

Preparation

* Combine avocado and mayonnaise in a blender or food processor until the mass is consistent and smooth

* Apply on hair and cover with a shower cap

* Leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes

* Rinse off with a gentle shampoo

Deep conditioner

Ingredients

* 3-4 drops of essential oils of your choice

* 1 teaspoon of olive oil

* 1 egg

Preparation

* Beat the egg

* Mix in the rest of the ingredients

* Apply on the hair and leave on for 15 to 20 minutes

* Rinse off using a gentle shampoo

This hair conditioner helps moisturize (olive oil) and soften your hair (egg). You can keep it refrigerated in a plastic container with a lid. Shake it well before using it.

Suffering From Swimmer's Hair?

Pool Chlorine

Chlorine is one of those toxic natural elements that we must come into contact with most every day. It has many positive uses but our hair isn't one of them! Chlorine bonds with the the proteins in our hair and damages it! Hair feels dry, brittle and is difficult to comb through. It tangles easily and has a gummy feel to it. Ironically, the word "Chlorine" in Greek means "pale green" which is often what blonde hair can experience without proper protection from the copper found in swimming pools.

Prevention

One of the easiest ways to help prevent chlorine from damaging your hair is to get your hair very wet before swimming. Think of your hair like a sponge. A dry sponge will soak up liquid quickly but a wet sponge is too "full" to absorb much. This simple step alone can make a major difference! Secondly, comb a conditioner through your hair and leave it in. The conditioner will act as a shield against the chlorine and help provide a barrier that the chlorine won't be able to penetrate. In a pinch, use any creamy conditioner (use a product that normally requires rinsing.) After swimming, immediately shampoo and condition the hair once again.

Treatment

Many products specifically treat swimmer's hair and the one I use and recommend is the Malibu 2000 line of haircare products This line has been around for a while but still one of the best. There is a Swimmer's Shampoo that prevents chlorine buildup and also helps prevent the green hair that is caused by copper. Swimmer's conditioner that helps condition hair leaving it shiny and free of any minerals. Malibu 2000 hair products also have special treatments to remove additional buildup.

Don't let chlorine get the best of you!

Thinning Hair - A Bald Fact

As you grow older, not only do you grow wiser but as a sign of wisdom, you start losing your hair. Thin hair has been the result of time. But other factors like heredity, modern hair styling treatments like perming, bleaching, coloring etc have also led to thin hair. Bad diets and stress also have an adverse effect on the thickness of hair.

The following tips give you some advice on how to control the hair thinning problems:

• Color your hair: when you color your hair, they appear thicker since the process actually roughs up the hair. It is easier to give the appearance of fullness since the hairs slide one another and lie flat against each other. Use lighter colors since they hide the scalp very easily.

• Choose curly look: when you curl your hair, they appear fuller since the wavy look alters the surface of the hair.

• Blow dry your hair: blow drying the hair will make the hair two to three times thicker without harming the scalp. It plumps up the hair so that they look higher. But keep the dryer two to three times away from the hair to avoid causing excessive dryness. Also, use a conditioner after shampoo if you tend to blow dry your hair regularly.

• Use protein shampoo daily: when you wash the hair daily, the hair oils are removed, gives the hair more body so that it looks thicker than the normal. Using shampoos with hydrolyzed animal proteins, also called thickeners gives the hair more diameter. They coat the hair so that each shaft appears two to three times full than usual. Also, the hair appear fluffy and hence look fuller.

• Try a kitchen conditioner: mix a tablespoon of white vinegar with a pint of water and massage on the hair after shampooing. Vinegar changes the chemical balance of the hair to acidic and thus gives full appearance to the thinning hair.

• Use eggs: crack an egg over the hair before shampooing. Massage it for five minutes and then rinse out. It has the same effect as the protein shampoos as egg is animal protein.

• Use minimal commercial conditioners: usually, the conditioners are used to give the volume to the hair. But people use quantity more than required and thus give the hair a limp look. Always use a teaspoon of conditioner for every wash.

• Use mousse: before going out, always style your hair with mousse to make the hair appear fuller. Since mousse contains resins, they coat the hair and add diameter to it. It lifts the hair off the scalp and gives it a fuller appearance.

Summer Hair

While most of us long for a day at the beach or by the pool in the hot summer, our hair prefers that we stay away and not expose it to the sand, salt, chlorine and sun. Summer is a fun time to be outdoors, but it can also be very hard time on your hair if you are not careful to shield it from the weather and other summer elements. By understanding the things that can damage your hair you can better protect it so you will not need to spend all winter trying to restore it.

One of the first things you should always do for your hair is to use a good salon quality shampoo and conditioner that is designed for your specific hair type. This means that if you have very fine hair you will want to use a light shampoo and conditioner; if you have very coarse hair you will want to use a more moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. During the summer months you might want to shampoo less and use a cold rinse to help seal in the natural moisture of your hair.

You might be surprised to know that the heat from the summer sun can be just as damaging to your hair as a hot blow dryer. If you normally blow dry your hair, try to let it air dry more during the summer months. This will give it a rest from the heat and drying effects. If you must blow dry your hair try using a lower heat setting or an ionic blow dryer.

During the hot summer months it is very important to provide your hair with the extra moisture it desires. You can accomplish this by applying a deep conditioner once each week. This is especially effective after a long day in the sun and water.

If you will be spending a long day by the water, consider wearing a hat or using a leave-in conditioner which contains SPF protection for your hair. If you forget to bring a hat, or do not have a conditioner with SPF protection, you can use sunscreen in a pinch. Just make sure you shampoo your hair well when you return home.

If you will be spending a lot of time in a chlorinated pool during the summer, you should always wash your hair thoroughly after you get out of the water using a good clarifying shampoo. You should never attempt a chlorinated pool after a recent perm! The chlorine in the water can react with the perm chemicals and do all kinds of nasty things to your hair. Your hair can become very dry or even turn green.

While the summer can be a fun time to enjoy it is important to take extra good care of your hair to protect it from the heat and the other elements of summer. By taking care of your hair in the summer months you can have beautiful looking hair year-round.

Celebrity Hair Styles: Tricks Of The Trade

When you think of your favorite hairstyle, does a certain celebrity come to mind? If you said “yes”, you’re one of millions of women and even men that find celebrity hair-styles the way to go. After all, they are the trendsetters. So, what’s their tips and secrets or is their locks just airbrushed perfect in those magazines? After much research, we’ve narrowed the list to 10 of the best tips and secrets available, both from celebrities and their stylists:

· Celebrity hair styles Tip #1- For that over the top curl look, use a curling iron on parts of the hair and a waving iron on other parts. For the best straight look simply use a flattening iron, but apply a conditioning mist to the dry hair prior to using any heat; this eliminates frizz and static.

· Celebrity hair styles Tip #2- To create highlights for curly hair; try putting in the color vertically; this helps define the curls. For straighter hair, paint the highlights on in a starburst fashion, across the entire surface of the hair. Keep highlights within two shades of your natural color.

· Celebrity hair styles Tip #3- Use products specifically made for color treated hair when you have any type of highlights, lowlights or coloring on your hair. Always use a leave-in conditioner in the hair and use those that contain sunscreen.

· Celebrity hair styles Tip #4- For frizz free curls and to combat those split ends, try sleeping on a satin pillow.

· Celebrity hair styles Tip #5- If you suffer from dandruff, try using two ground-up aspirins in your shampoo once every week. Most dandruff shampoos can strip away color from color-treated hair; this great tip doesn’t do that at all.

· Celebrity hair styles Tip #6- Avoid brushing your hair, instead use a wide-tooth-comb or your fingers.

· Celebrity hair styles Tip #7- Use one tablespoon of baking soda mixed with two tablespoons of shampoo to clarify your hair; but only once a week. Otherwise, you may strip the hair completely of natural oils.

· Celebrity hair styles Tip #8- Avoid blow dryers if possible, towel dry your hair until all the moisture is out. Then allow it to air dry the rest of the way.

· Celebrity hair styles Tip #9- Apply a leave-in conditioner prior to going to sleep; then wash out in the morning.

· Celebrity hair styles Tip #10- After washing, apply conditioner, then rinse well with warm water; then apply a cold water rinse from roots to ends. This will add shine to your hair.

Hair Extension Care

Once you have applied the extensions, you need to look after them. This will help prolong the life of the extensions and their quality as well. The process is easy and here we provide some useful tips.

Washing your hair regularly helps a lot

Your hair can attract a lot of dust and sweat which can lead to tangling. To avoid this from happening you should wash your hair regularly. First of all, make sure to de-tangle the hair and remove all knots. Then brush your hair on all sides. Then, when you start shampooing, use a downward movement to wash the hair. Make sure to use a high quality clear shampoo as otherwise it can damage the extensions. We also recommend for you to use a intensive conditioner, one for dry or damaged hair only on natural ends and your hair extensions, but again avoid the bonds. Do not apply too much water all of a sudden as it swell up hair and cause tangles.

How to style your hair?

Make sure to use a high quality brush that has soft bristles on it. Start styling your hair from the bottom and then move slowly to the top portion. Always make sure to brush in a gentle manner and never exceed over 3 times in one day. Try to avoid using hair dryers as it will dry out your hair. Instead let it dry on its own. You can use hair straighteners please be awear of the bonds.

Precautions to take while working out

We all need to workout and while doing so you need to take care of your hair extensions as well. If you are going swimming then make sure to wear a protective rubber cap. The chlorine and salt content in the swimming pool water can cause hair to entangle. You can also try tying up your hair in ponytail form to avoid it getting wet. Note the chlorine can discolour hair extensions, so be warned!

How to care for the extensions while sleeping?

Always make sure to thoroughly dry your hair out before you hit bed for the night. So, if you are planning on washing your hair, make sure you do it several hours before bed time. You also need to tie up your hair gently before you sleep so that the hair does not tangle up.

Products to use for the hair

One good option for keeping your mane soft and tangle free is to use a leave-in conditioner. However, do not use too much of the conditioner as it can again cause hair to entangle. Do not use hair products which have alcohol as one of their ingredients. It can dry out your hair excessively. Instead, you could consult with your personal stylist on which products are best to use for your hair.

Treatment options

Try to avoid coloring your hair or perming it when you have had hair extensions applied. These contain chemicals which can damage the extensions. Try avoiding any hair treatments which contain chemicals in them. Instead, ask your stylist to suggest what treatments need to be avoided. If you do go ahead with dying you hair extensions whilst fitted, pay special attention to avoid the bonds as chemicals will weaken the bonds considerably

Hair Styles Makeovers - See What You Can Do Now to Have a Fabulous Hair Style

How many times a week do you wake up and just hate the way your hair looks? Is your hair too frizzy, too dry? Is it too thick, too thin? Do you have a unappealing hair cut? Do you ever get compliments on the way your hair looks?

Don't despair, because there is hope for your hair style. The options for changing or fixing your hair are many and whether you are willing to spend thousands of dollars or just a few dollars, there is something that you can do.

Some of the major hair problems are Damaged Hair, Frizzy Hair, Thinning Hair and Unflattering Hair Styles. There are quick, inexpensive fixes. See below for complete details:

Damaged Hair:

The easy fix for damaged hair is deep conditioning treatments. Ask your hair stylist for the best product for your hair, or take a trip down the hair products aisle at your local drugstore. If your hair is extremely damaged, you may want to start with a once weekly deep conditioning treatment. Wash your hair normal in the shower and towel dry. Apply the deep conditioner all over the hair and wrap the hair with plastic. The plastic helps to keep heat in and make your conditioner go to work. Leave the conditioner on for about 30 minutes.

Also, try to give your hair a rest from heat appliances such as curling irons and blow dryers, as well as chemical processing.

Frizzy Hair:

It seems that as you get older, your hair tends to get frizzier. The weather and humidity never help. The easy fix for frizzy hair is to use lots of conditioner every time you shampoo, and follow with a serum or balm that contains silicone. Some products work better than others and it may take some experimenting to find just the right product for your hair. Although flat ironing your hair can zap away the frizzies in just a few minutes, you should limit using the flat iron since you might be adding to the frizzy problem in the long run with repeated use of the iron.

Thinning Hair:

As more and more women are experiencing thinning hair, the hair products industry is developing more and more products to help with this issue. If you have serious thinning, you may want to visit a dermatologist for more treatment options. Find a good daily vitamin to take that is designed for hair and skin issues. Many of the hair loss products companies, like Nioxin sell a daily vitamin that is supposed to support hair growth.

Hair extensions offer a temporary solution to camouflage the thinning hair, but you must be very cautious about the type and method used as hair extensions have been known to cause even more thinning issues if not done properly.

Unflattering Hair Styles

If you are not happy with your hair style, then you may want to start over by evaluation your face shape. The shape of the face can really make or break a hair style. Knowing what you should have or shouldn't have in a style can be crucial to the outcome. With the invention of hair style imaging software, you can do a little research before you get your hair cut. Some programs even allow for you to try on a hair style by uploading a picture of yourself. This software even works for checking out a color change.

In short, if you want to do something about your current hair style and feel lost, then you should know that there is hope out there and you could make just a small change to update your hair and grow to love it.

Natural Hair Straightener for Beginners

Hair straightening is usually done using hair straighteners or hair irons like the Sedu flat iron. However it may not be advisable or convenient for everyone to use hair irons on their hair; especially for those with dry hair. This is because with repetitive use of hair irons, there is a high possibility of the hair ending up damaged with too much use of hair irons. This is why it is beneficial and convenient to some people to buy and use natural hair straighteners. With a natural hair straightener, straightening curly hair naturally is very easy. Use a product like BODIpHIER which is easily available in most hair care product stores and through the internet.

All you have to do to straighten your hair is to first apply BODIpHIER to your hair, and if required, apply a retouch application to the new growth hair first. After this, you just have to let BODIpHIER stay on your hair for half an hour. If you wish to have a retouch application, apply BODIpHIER to relaxed hair after fifteen minutes and let it stand again for ten more minutes.

Once this is over, shampoo and rinse using a BODIpHIER shampoo at least twice. Once this is done, you have to towel blot your hair and apply BODIpHIER conditioner and let it stand for five minutes before rinsing it. Once this is over, you have to towel blot your hair once again and apply BODIpHIER Blow Drying Cream sparingly on your hair. You then blow dry your hair, and style following any style like Sedu hair styles. You now have a different look to your face, in a natural way.

And for added sheen to your hair, you could also use some Fresh Look Brilliant Sheen Moisturizer everyday. This helps you in maintaining moisture, sheen and body in your hair.

The Secret of Good Hair Care

The secret to a good hair care is to know what your hair wants and needs, like know your hair texture (dry, normal or oily). Another thing to keep in mind is about the right kind of products suited to your hair. There are loads of products calling for your attention; but choose the one that suits you the best.

In today's world, one hardly has time to go to a beauty parlor and sit there for hours to get soft, shiny, smooth hair. By following simple rules, you too can have great hair right at your home.

These rules are:

Avoid over-washing your hair. Short hair is easier to wash daily but not long hair. Over washing will dry the hair and make them brittle. Don't apply shampoo directly to the roots. Start from the nape and then work it through the rest of your hair. Distribute conditioner evenly through your hair. Use a comb to spread the conditioner evenly through your hair. Avoid twisting of wet hair. It may be convenient, but try to avoid wrapping your hair in a towel and leaving it twisted up on your head for long. It can damage your hair.

Avoid using hair dryer everyday. Allow your hair to dry naturally whenever possible. Deep conditioning treatment: Once a week give your hair a deep conditioning treatment. For this home deep conditioning treatment all you need is an egg and 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise. Wet hair and gently massage beaten egg through it. Leave on for 3 minutes then wash off with warm water. Massage in mayonnaise and wrap a hot towel around your head for 30 minutes. Shampoo off with warm water. You won't need a conditioner and will be a proud owner of shiny, soft, conditioned hair.

Another weekly conditioning hair pack can be made using henna and egg. Mix henna with egg and leave it over night in an iron vessel. Apply this paste in the morning on clean hair and leave it for half an hour for natural conditioning before washing with your usual shampoo. Do not comb your hair when wet. This may cause to hair breakage as it become very weak during this time.

A good hair massage before washing your hair can do wonders. Massage in warm olive oil or coconut oil and leave for 30-40 minutes before washing. Regular massage with castor oil as a hair oil helps the luxuriant growth of the hair.

Do not wash your hair with very hot water. Always use lukewarm water. Regular use of coconut milk on your scalp would make your hair silky and also improves hair growth.

These are some tips to get healthy and beautiful hair. Remember to follow your routine regularly to get good results. If changing your product, stick to the new one for a month or two to see the results. Natural products are harmless and cheaper too.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away but did you know that it aids in hair growth too? Research has shown there are various ways of using apple or its forms to maintain a healthy crop of hair. Apple cider vinegar, made from apples, is an amazing hair tonic. Visit: http://www.naturalhairgrowth.net. Please add your inputs on Natural Hair Growth Blog.

Jojoba Oil - Jojoba Oil Benefits For Hair Loss

Jojoba Oil is fast emerging as a mystical elixir of life for hair and the fight against hair loss. Though it is not the "be all and end all" as far as the perfect solution for hair problems is concerned, it is an excellent hair treatment for dry hair and a natural hair conditioner acting similar to and having the properties of sebaceous oil (sebum).

A Hair Conditioner and a Moisturizer

Sebaceous glands of the scalp produce a natural oil called 'sebum', whose structure resembles the inherent structure of Jojoba oil. Sebum is needed to moisturize the scalp and thus maintain beautiful and healthy hair. Jojoba oil has the same qualities and hence, the regular use of Jojoba oil, makes your hair more resistant to detrimental factors such as tangles, dryness or even split ends.

The Jojoba Beauty Product

Jojoba oil can be applied to hair in its purest form, or else can be bought as a mixture of various components, with Jojoba as its major component. It would be a good idea to go for the mixture as it would also include extracts such as Lavender, Rosemary Oil, Comfrey and a wonderful fragrance.

Not only would your hair get the benefit of Jojoba Oil but also benefit from the effects of these extracts that would heal the hair and offer more nourishment.

For Dry, Wavy, and Coarse Hair

Jojoba oil is not only a great way to condition your hair, but it also can be used repeatedly meaning it won't have any side effects on your hair. This is because there is no artificial chemical content in this oil. More importantly, it can be applied easily and is also easy to shampoo out. No longer do you have to shampoo your head vigorously to remove those spots of oil that stick to your hair.

In the end if you are going for a hot oil treatment, rest assured all of them are quite messy, but the mess has a very positive effect on your hair and hence is worth it.

Extra Protection and Healing

Jojoba oil offers extra protection to your hair. Coupled with the conditioning effects that will make your hair soft and silky, it is a great choice for use as a scalp and hair care product.

It is scientifically proven that Jojoba oil does have healing properties and effects hair in a wholly positive manner, much more than other oils. Moreover, the oil can be used on all types of hair.

The market is replete with various compositions that include Jojoba oil in its various concentrations. Your choice of the concentration; whether, heavy, medium, or light will be dependent on the type of hair and your overall dry hair moisturizer care needs.

Healthy Hair 8 Simple Ways to Get it and Keep it That Way

1. Get a Regular trim getting a regular trim, every 4 6 weeks, will help keep hair healthy looking. The reason this is important is because the natural oils from the scalp which work to protect your hair do not reach the ends of your hair. It is even more important if you perm, color or use heated styling tools on your hair as these all cause damage and dry hair out.

2. Have a Natural Hair Day most of us are constantly using some sort of hair product like gel and hair spray or heated styling tools on our hair and these can take a major toll on your tresses. Try setting aside one day a week where you go all natural meaning after washing your hair you let it air dry and do not use any styling products or tools. Give your hair time to relax and let your hair breathe.

3. Shampoo & Conditioner be sure to use a shampoo and conditioner meant for your hair type be it oily, fine and damaged or normal.

4. Protect Hair this can make a major difference in your hair especially if you use a hair dryer, curling iron or hair straightener on a regular basis. There are many heat protectant styling aids available to help prevent heat damage when using these types of heated tools. When swimming use a cap or be sure to wash hair right after swimming to rinse out the damaging chlorine.

5. Prevent Damage- avoiding things like brushing your hair when it is wet, using elastics with metal clips and pat hair dry with a towel do not rub as this can cause breakage.

6. Choose Styling Products Wisely avoid hair gels with alcohol as this will only dry hair out. Again, use products meant for your hair type. Dry, brittle hair needs moisture and nourishment where as fine limp hair needs volume.

7. Eat Well what you eat can play a major in the health of your hair. Sticking to a balanced diet will help give you healthier hair.

Bald Hair Treatment - Reverse Hair Loss With This Bald Hair Treatment

The goal for people with hair loss is not only to stop further hair from falling off, but ultimately to regrow all of the hair that's already been lost. This is why many people go with hair transplants, but they lose their own hair to replace their own hair, not really an ultimate solution. Those people have tried everything, except this bald hair treatment.

Did you know that 90% percent of hair loss sufferers don't maintain the health of their hair? This is why it's highly recommended to keep your hair healthy and strong. To keep your hair strong and reverse hair loss, do these techniques.

Before showering make a warm paste of 2 tablespoons of almond oil, 1 tablespoon of honey, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder, mix them well before applying. Put some on your hair, make sure the mix is also applied to the root of your hairs. Keep this in until about 15 minutes, that way the healing agents are absorbed by your hair follicles. Don't rinse it off, instead take a shower.

When in the shower, put some jojoba oil and rosemary oil on your shampoo, mix it then apply it and scrub it gently on your hair for about 40 seconds, then rinse off. Use conditioner and put jojoba oil and rosemary oil on it as well for added benefit. Leave in the conditioner for about 2 minutes then lightly and gently rinse it off.

Now take some coconut oil and apply it on your hair while it's still lightly damp. This oil keeps your hair strong and repels harmful agents that may be floating around in the air. Use this bald hair treatment for a few weeks and you'll start to see thicker and more hair. Continue use until you've grown enough hair to your desire. Be persistent, it's not an overnight miracle.

Long Hair Styling Techniques

Long hair takes a lot of maintenance in order to keep it looking healthy and shiny. Proper hair care is the first step that you will need to take in order to create beautiful long hair styles. Proper hair care starts with a quality shampoo and condition. These products should not be too heavy as heavy shampoos and conditions can be difficult to rinse out of long hair, especially if you have thick hair as well. In addition to using a good shampoo and conditioner you will also need to use hair care products that address the type of hair that you have. If you have curly or wavy hair then you may also want to use a curl enhancer and definer. If you are trying for a straight hair style then you may want to add a hair straightener to your hair care regime.

If you plan on attending a special event then you will want to look for formal long hair styles that are appropriate for your face shape and the type of function that you will be attending. For weddings or spring formal events long spiral curls tied back, swept up, or left loose are all appropriate longer hair styles. If you have naturally straight hair then you may need to get a spiral perm in order to create the types of curls that you want.

Long hair is beautiful and it can be styled into a number of looks. Unfortunately it can also create fashion problems. First if it is not cared for it can become frizzy, dry and dull. When this happens your long hair will weigh you down and make you look dowdy. To avoid these problems you should get a hair cut that will give your long hair shape, movement and texture. One type of hair cut that works great for long hair are layered hair cuts.

Gorgeous Hair - Know Your Hair's Worst Enemies

Gorgeous hair is easy if you treat your hair well and keep it in good condition; when you know your hair's worst enemies having gorgeous hair will be easier than you think.

Hair by nature is both elastic and plastic: elastic because it can be stretched and pulled around without breaking; plastic because it can be molded temporarily or permanently into any shape you please.

Yet resilient as hair is, problems crop up time and time again. Home treatments for hair are often effective but any persistent or serious disorder should be treated by a specialist.

There are many things in every day life and your environment that are bad for your hair. Day in day out, whatever the climate, your hair is constantly exposed to heat, humidity, wind, cold, sun, water, central heating or air-conditioning.

Worst Enemy 1

Industrial pollution - particles of soot, grime and smog attach themselves to your hair, particularly if it is oily or sprayed with hairspray. This makes hair dirtier and it is thought that it can affect the color of tinted or bleached hair.

Worst Enemy 2

Sun - a little is good for your hair, but too much sun can be your hair's worst enemy. It dries hair out, often causing breakage and split ends. Sun lightens natural-colored hair, but seriously changes the shade of tinted or lightened hair, making it dull or brassy - it always brings out the reddish tints. If you are exposed to a lot of sun, try to keep your hair covered and have a deep conditioning treatment every three or four weeks. Hair often acclimatizes to sun so that women from the tropics find their hair deteriorates in a northern climate and of course the reverse is also true.

Worst Enemy 3

Heat - intensifies the natural condition of your hair. If your hair is dry it will become drier, if your hair is oily it will become even oilier. Heat usually makes hair dirtier due to your head perspiring and dirt clinging to the moisture. Normal balanced hair will need washing more frequently and deep conditioning once a month. Dry hair will require an instant conditioner after every wash and a deep one every three weeks. Oily hair requires more shampooing than usual, and a long conditioning treatment every three or four weeks.

Worst Enemy 4

Humidity - adversely affects all hair. Curly hair becomes curlier, straight hair becomes straighter and even balanced hair will lose its shape more quickly. Choose simple styles and a stronger styling product. A deep conditioner for all types of hair is a great help.

Worst Enemy 5

Water - rainwater is harmless - unless in polluted areas - but sea and swimming pool water can harm your hair. The chlorine in pools dries and bleaches normal and tinted hair; it is always better to wear a cap, and if you can't or don't want to, wash your hair immediately after coming out of the water, adding an instant conditioner if possible. Sea water dries and bleaches hair, often because your hair is also exposed to the sun at the same time, and the salt content in sea water accelerates both the drying and the bleaching processes. Always rinse your hair in fresh water after swimming in the sea; again add an instant conditioner, especially if your hair is naturally dry or chemically altered.

Gorgeous hair that bounces and shines; has a look of vitality and control is the result of a healthy body working together with a program of correct hair care. Treat your hair well and you will find it easy to have gorgeous hair.

10 Proven Hair Care Tips

1. Gently comb your hair. A vigorous combing can cause hair loss. Do not comb your hair in the opposite direction. This also can cause hair falling.

2. Do not comb wet hair. You should first dry your hair with a towel, put some oil and gently massage it.

3. To find the best hair comb, you must consider the nature of your hair, convenience and style.

4. Use coconut milk as an inexpensive alternative to salon hot oil treatments. Apply coconut milk onto scalp and hair with a cotton ball. Leave on overnight and shampoo in the morning.

5. If you have fine hair, use shampoos that include wheat proteins and polymers. These ingredients make your hair look thicker by coating the hair shaft.

6. A well-balanced diet is essential for your hair. A diet rich in protein, complex carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and iron is necessary for healthy, strong hair.

7. For a cheap and effective conditioner, mix one cup of olive oil with one egg and half a lemon to an even consistency. Apply to scalp and hair strands and rinse well with water.

8. If you your hair is short, have it trimmed every 3-4 weeks. If you hair is long, have it trimmed every 6-8 weeks. The purpose of trimming is to remove split ends.

9. Blow drying can damage your hair. Let your hair air-dry whenever possible.

10. You can treat dandruff with anti-dandruff shampoos. But you can use simple home remedies to treat dandruff. Use a mixture of vinegar and water on the scalp. Make a mixture of two teaspoons of vinegar and six teaspoons of water and apply it on the scalp before you go to bed. Keep it throughout the night with a towel around the head. Rinse in the morning.

Common Hair Mistakes

1. NOT TRIMMING YOUR HAIR EVERY 6 WEEKS.

The tip of each hair is weaker then the root, making it more vulnerable to breakage and split ends. Having the tips trimmed every 6 weeks helps to maintain the condition of your hair and its style.

2. WASHING HAIR ON A DAILY BASIS.

Regularly washing your hair strips it of essential oils and can leave it dry and brittle. If you have naturally oily hair, use a mild, pH-balanced shampoo. When washing your hair don't rub the scalp vigorously as this will stimulate the oil glands to produce more sebum.

3. RUBBING YOUR HAIR VIGOROUSLY WITH A TOWEL.

The action of rubbing you hair with a towel actually roughens the hair cuticle, which can lead to frizzy, flyaway hair.

4. LEAVING SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER IN YOUR HAIR.

Shampoo and conditioner that is not thoroughly rinsed out of the hair is the worst culprit for bad hair days. It counteracts styling products, leaves your hair looking dull, limp and unmanageable. Try to rinse your hair for an extra couple of minutes after shampooing and conditioning.

5. BLOW-DRYING HAIR UNTIL COMPLETELY DRY.

Overheating your hair makes it susceptible to breakage and strips it of shine. A better idea is to blow-dry hair until its 80% dry and then let it air dry, naturally. Alternatively use a leave-in conditioner or styling product that protects your hair from heat styling. Also, hold the hair dryer at least 30 centimetres away from your hair.

6. NOT USING PRODUCTS RECOMMENDED FOR YOUR HAIR TYPE.

Many people misdiagnose their hair type and subsequently purchase the wrong hair products to style hair. Using the right product will help to recreate that special salon style.

7. NOT USING A CLARIFYING SHAMPOO ONCE A WEEK.

Everyday pollutants cling to hair and leave a thin coat of grime that dulls and weighs down the hair. Using a clarifying shampoo once a week will give hair a residue free fresh start.

8. THINKING THE LATEST FASHION HAIR CUT WILL SUIT YOU.

Let's face it; we're not all beautiful models. Not all of us can get away with the latest, trendiest, most fashionable hair cut. May be that fashion cut can give you a worst look. It all depends on individual, their texture, their lifestyle, their quality of hair. Drastic haircuts take a long time to grow out, so be sure you want to take the risk before sitting in the char and letting your hairdresser go to work. Be specific and take lots of photographs to ensure you are getting the look you want. It is a good idea to take along a trusted friend for advice! Washing your hair each day will discard dead skin cells from your scalp which can hinder growth and cause problems like dandruff. Whilst washing your hair, you should scrub your scalp with the pads of your fingers in a circular motion; this will not only ensure that it is clean but studies have shown that it helps the scalp to produce more natural oils which add moisture and speed up growth.

Hair should also be conditioned after shampooing to lock in the moisture you have lost through washing, if you have hair which is oily, just apply conditioner to the ends to prevent them from drying. Dry or brittle hair is prone to split ends and breakages which makes your hair less manageable.

A healthy head of hair is simple to sustain, hair care takes little effort and should fit into your daily routine easily. Keep your hair clean and brush it regularly to spread the naturals oils down the hair shaft. If you require heated appliances everyday to create you style, why not spray in some leave-in conditioner after use in order to replenish it. Soon you will have healthy hair to smile about.

Hair Care Basics

Hair is important. Hair is your crowning glory. The way you style your hair is one of the most eloquent aspects of our body vocabulary. The better you treat your hair, the easier it will be to grow and the better it will look. Some women favor very long hair and resist the idea of frequent cuts, but skipping hair cuts in order to grow your hair out is actually self-defeating. If you take good care of your hair, you may not need to get it cut more than twice a year. Sleep with a satin scarf or sleep cap on your head or with a satin pillow case. This helps avoid split ends caused by the rubbing of your hair against a "rough" cotton pillow case. It also avoids moisture being wicked out of your hair into your cotton pillow case.

Wash your hair no more often than every week to week and a half. After shampooing, rinse your hair with cool water to seal moisture in the hair shafts. Coloring you hair can be very damaging. To distribute the natural oils in your hair, bend over and brush your scalp and hair from back to front until the scalp tingles; then massage the scalp with your fingertips. Towel-dry your hair thoroughly before using a blow dryer. Avoid damaging your hair with too much heat. Avoid using a brush on wet hair because it is subject to breakage. Comb out snarls. Do a deep conditioner or hot oil treatment once a month. Massage your scalp on a regular basis to promote circulation and oil production. Avoid overuse of products with mineral oil or petroleum.

Always use a leave-in conditioner after washing your hair. Use a coated rubber band or a soft hair tie to secure ponytails and the ends of a braid to reduce the stress on the hair. If your hair is prone to buildup from conditioners, styling gel, or hair spray, mix 1 tablespoon baking soda with your regular shampoo once a week. Rinse and dry as usual. Eat a proper diet. Vitamins and protein are essential for proper hair growth. Use gel after a braid is finished to smooth down loose or uncontrolled hairs. Apply it to your fingertip or to the end of a hairpin. Use gel to control hair when you want a "wet" affect. Apply gel sparingly to your hair once styled. If you want a soft finish but need to control the hair. Use hair spray.

Hair Care Tips

1. Protect your hair with hair care products that contain sunscreen.

2. Use regular hair rollers, winding hair loosely around them.

3. Avoid pulling back your hair tightly.

4. For shiny hair apply besan in the hair and wash it with water drained from the cooked rice.

5. Add a lemon peel to a 'shikakai' and 'amla' mixture while washing your hair.

6. Wash hair with tea once in a week.

7. Eat a proper diet.

8. Always use a wide tooth comb and try to gently detangle your hair.

Daily Care For Long Hair

Gorgeous long hair is a mark of femininity and can make a woman feel sensual. We've all seen woman with long hair and wished that we could have hair like theirs. Happily enough, most of us can. However, long hair must be carefully cared for or it can become brittle and stringy.

The first thing to keep in mind is that hair doesn't need to be washed every day. Daily washing strips hair of its natural oils that make hair shiny and add luster. You'll find that the ends of your hair tend to dry out faster because they're far from your scalp and that means that the oils take longer to reach the ends. Your scalp is a different matter and may get oilier faster. You can try doing a scalp wash. Bun your hair at the top of your head and just wash your scalp with shampoo. Try not too get shampoo on the hair that you put on the top of your head.

Wash the length of your hair every other day and then work towards two or three times a week. When you do wash the length of your hair, make sure you condition. And leave the conditioner on your hair for a couple of minutes. Also, comb the conditioner through your hair with a wide toothed comb.

Remember never to brush your hair when wet. You'll break your hair more easily when it's wet. Simply comb through with a wide toothed comb and let your hair dry. And don't rub your hair through a towel to dry it. Simply squeeze the excess water out and wait for it to dry. Another thing to remember is to never go to sleep with wet hair. Tossing and turning is sure to break your hair.

When hair is damp, try a leave in product to get rid off frizzies and hold in moisture. There are plenty of products out there or you can use simply ones as well. Cocoa butter and almond oil work great. Just put a little in the palm of your hand, let it warm up, rub your hands together and then rub your hands over your hair concentrating more on the ends than the scalp.

Brushing hair should be done carefully and with natural bristles when possible. Pearson Mason has wonderful boar bristles brushes. Although expensive, they're well worth it. The same goes for combing hair, try to use wooden combs, or horn combs if you can. Be gentle on your hair when you brush it. Try turning your head up side down and brushing your hair that way as well. This is a great way to add body to your hair.

Remember if you treat your hair well, it will look great. Daily care is a great way to start caring for your hair. Don't forget about weekly and monthly care as well.

Shampoo Basics - Should I Wash My Hair Every Day?

Unless your hair is supremely oily, washing hair every day is not only unnecessary, it can be damaging. Taking every other day off from shampoo - or even 2 or more days off if your hair is dry or damaged - gives your hair a break from the detergents and the inevitable roughness that comes with shampooing, both of which can rough up hair's protective cuticle layer. A day away from shampoo also allows sebum - hair's natural conditioner - to get a foothold in individual strands. And for those who are trying to live life more simply (read: use less stuff, shampooing less frequently means using less shampoo.

Most of us like suds, which is why shampoo manufacturers often make high-foaming formulas. Yet suds have nothing to do with a shampoo's cleansing power. In fact, the lesser-foaming formulas are gentler on hair.

When I was a teenager, my friends and I never admitted to washing our hair any less than once a day - in fact, some of my friends used to brag about washing their hair twice a day. I told this story to a hairstylist once and he laughed. "For some strange reason, people get squeamish if you tell them to stop washing their hair every day. It's as if they think easing up on the shampoo is going to make them unclean," he said. After years of interviewing hairstylists and dermatologists, I've learned exactly what he is saying - and it has nothing to do with giving up bathing or showering.

Go ahead and get in the shower, go ahead and get your hair wet - just don't pull out the shampoo. I think you'll find that a good pre-shower brushing and a heavy dousing of old-fashioned plain water will do wonders for your hair. The brushing loosens up dirt, dead flaky skin, debris, and excess scalp oil, which the water then rinses away. If you're worried about tangles, go ahead and work a bit of detangler or a light conditioner through wet ends then rinse out - again, just no shampoo.

Tips For Getting The Most Out Of A Hair Straightener

One of the latest styling products to gain popularity is the hair straightener. There are many different brands and styles of straighteners, but generally they all work on the same principle. Two ceramic plates, or irons, are heated just like a curling iron, and then the two plates are gently pressed against the top and bottom sections of hair and slowly drawn through the hair from the top to the bottom. The result is a soft looking, sleek hairstyle seen on such celebrities as Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie.

The hair straightener not only removes frizz and fly-aways but it also is used to add body and definition to the hair. All types of hair can benefit from using a good quality hair straightener as a styling product. Most straighteners will have several heat settings, and the finer your hair is the lower the setting you will need to use.

In order to get the most out of your hair straightener it is important to start with a clean and dry head of hair. Dirty hair or hair with a lot of products already in it will “stick” on the ceramic plates, and will lead to broken and damaged hair and possible crimped looking patterns on the hair. Hair should be completely dry to avoid any damage to the structure of the hair (leading to split ends or dry looking hair). Some straightening irons are specifically made for use with damp hair, and if you wish to do this make sure your iron indicates damp or wet to dry hair. In addition to having clean hair also be sure to use a good moisturizing conditioner to prepare your hair for the treatment. While straightening is not damaging to your hair if done properly, a good conditioner can really add shine and manageability to your hair.

If your hair requires some texture or body for the style that you are trying to achieve, add mousse or styling mud or crème prior to blow-drying your hair. Work the product completely through to the roots to give the same texture to the hair all the way along its length.

If your hair has a tendency to frizz up throughout the day, try applying a small amount of anti-frizz serum prior to blow-drying. Use a large round brush to dry your hair from the top to the bottom, gently rolling the hair under to help straighten. Finish with a medium heat hair straightening iron, and a light sheen of shine crème or slight mist of good quality hair spray.

One of the biggest mistakes that is made when using a hair straightener is to heat the ceramic plates up too hot, and to damage the hair by moving the iron too slowly. You should always use the lowest possible temperature, and avoid the temptation to overheat the irons and dry out your hair. Move the iron in a smooth motion down the length of the hair. In addition, be sure to avoid making contact with your skin on your neck, scalp or ears as it will burn very quickly and painfully.

Hair Care

The majority of women worry about the appearance of their hair regularly. This is perhaps because the condition and style of our hair can alter our image drastically. Hairstyles are also a important division of fashion; pampered locks are the best accessory to complement your favorite outfit. In order to guarantee a picture-perfect look every time, you need to be aware of the best ways to take care of your hair and maintain its condition.

In order to look healthy on the outside, you must ensure you are healthy on the inside. Just like other parts of your body, your hair needs vitamins. You should aim to eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables as this will not only maintain your health but will make your hair soft and shiny. Nuts and seeds supply the body with essential oils and fatty acids which promote hair growth. Drinking plenty of water will also flush out any toxins and ensure your skin, hair and nails are moisturized. Moisture is essential for keeping your hair strong and shiny.

The stresses and strains of daily life will inevitably take their toll on your hair so you need to know the best ways to combat this. To start with, your hair should be washed on a daily basis.
